POLLOCK PINES, CALIFORNIA: The Caldor Fire burns in the El Dorado National Forest south of Pollock Pines Tuesday August 17th, 2021. The fire burned over 22,000 acres and destroyed dozens of structures. The fire was fueled by a dry forest, as firefighters braced for an offshore wind event they worried would worsen the fire later on during the week. Resources across the state were stretched thin. Smoke from the fire was visible at 30,000 feet.
