Trailers in the Night of the Western Sky

Why am I pre-occupied with photographing abandoned trailers when I explore?

They are an extension of mankind’s desire for the convenience of modern comforts in a portable metal can. Bring them to wild and pristine spaces and lock yourself into the space. What is designed as a tool to bring modern comforts to the outdoors becomes a ball and chain to man made ness. These trailers sit for decades permanently fixed in a location. An irony as they are built on wheels, designed to move along lanes of the Interstate. Their dotted presence in the Western landscape stands as a testament to a story, an owner, someone who once lived there. Between the Mississippi and Pacific there are thousands of these aluminum prisons waiting to be explored.
